Founded in 1898 by brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin the Michelin brand has become a worldwide household name, instantly recognisable by their iconic Michelin Man logo depicting a man made of tyres. The Michelin Man was voted as the “Best Symbol of All Time” by a worldwide panel for the Financial Times.
Today, Michelin is one of the world’s biggest tyre manufacturers with a well established reputation of producing some of the best tyres available to over 170 countries. It is estimated that Michelin produces over 150 million tyres a year at their 69 production facilities located in 18 different countries. They employ around 114,000 employees worldwide and have the biggest research and development budget in the tyre industry.
Michelin manufacture premium quality tyres for cars, vans and 4X4s, and have roots in the motor racing world. They produce tyres to meet the needs of the most demanding drivers, with a focus on safety, longevity and fuel efficiency.
Michelin believe that there is no greater tyre testing ground than racing. Thanks to their reliable and consistent performance Michelin have been the chosen tyres by winning teams at Le Mans and the WRC, achieving 15 consecutive victories at Le Mans. They are also the tyre of choice for UK Race Series Porsche Carrera Cup, GT3 Cup and Ginetta GT Supercup. Michelin is then able to transfer technologies used and tested in racing onto their road tyres.
